Motion of Sphere I

A circle is a plane figure bounded by one line, and such that all right lines drawn from a certain point within it to the bounding line, are equal. The bounding line is called its circumference and the point, its centre.

Section I

Perhaps only few have realized what a curious role Copernicanism has played in confusion of society. As Goethe wrote, "among all the 'discoveries' and 'corrections' probably none has resulted in a deeper influence on the human spirit than the doctrine of Copernicus ... Possibly mankind has never been demanded to do more, for consider all that went up in smoke as a result of realizing this change: a second Paradise, a world of innocence, poetry and piety: the witness of the senses, the conviction of a poetical and religious faith ...", etc.-1

"We find it hard to picture to ourselves the state of mind of a man of older days who firmly believed that the Earth was the center of the Universe, and that all the heavenly bodies revolved around it. Thus conceived, the Universe was so simple that it was fully and adequately represented, with its true shape and proper motion, in sundry great clocks compacted and painted by the craftsmen of the Middle Ages. We are done now with the twelve spheres and the planets under which men were born happy or unahppy, jovial or saturnine. The solid vault of the firmament is cleft asunder. Our eyes and thoughts plunge into the infinite abysses", and "the imagination is vexed and startled when the astronomers tell us that the luminous ray which reaches us from the pole-star has been half a century on the road: and yet that noble star is our next neighbor ..." -2

In "The Origins of Modern Science", Herbert Butterfield wrote that the Copernican revolution "outshines everything since the rise of Christianity and reduces the Renaissance and Reformation to the rank of mere episodes, mere internal displacements, within the system of medieval Christendom. Since it changed the character of men's habitual mental operations even in the conduct of the nonmaterial sciences, while transforming the whole diagram of the physical universe and the very texture of human life itself, it looms so large as the real origin both of the modern world and the modern mentality, that our contemporary periodisation of European history has become an anachronism and an encumberance."-3

Oculos habent sed non ut videant: they have eyes but not that they would see, maybe sometimes for hundreds of years. Qui oculos habent ad videndum et non vident, who have eyes to see, and see not, maybe thousands of an age, or forever, forever never, or forever and a few days, "if then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be. Si ergo lumen quod in te est tenebrae, quantae illae tenebrae erunt".-4

All for nothing again, the experience of aimless blind flux, flukes and not to know that to be what elsewhere has always been, anyway, at least in some way. If not about everything, nevertheless a multitudinous once more, ringing from the choir or the crowd, yet enough of that and not to worry, even if one has no better luck than the others. Selkirk más afuera and meteorology of the Falklands in total isolation, a chemistry of shadows and clouds turning over the sayings of the ancients.

However, since it could be reckoned one of those easy things that many people may miss, perhaps even while looking right at it, right custom confirms most things; and the rule in place would tend to produce the naturalization of its own effect, of course, its own arbitrarines would be normative even, however it is or however it goes; an architecture, yet it is easy to know that the people who visit the Foucault pendulum at the Judeo-Masonic Rockefeller-Rothschild compound of the UN in New York City do not see, for example, or ever realize in any sensible way that the Earth rotates at all. Except for the pendulum, and what they have been told to believe, the audience never recognizes with any practical intelligence or common bearing that Manhattan, at the 40thparallel, is spinning 795 mph into the east, or 1,165 feet per second, which is about 250 mph faster than a commercial jet flight.

"Quid? Quod nihil scitur", as one of the old grandissimes of skepticism used to say. So it goes when so difficult to tell what would be any difference. If it were true that the least gap of separation between particulars and universals, between induction and demonstration, for example, does not have a bridge in intelligent experience, or at least a circle of something stupid, maybe total nonsense could go on forever ... but middle terms and predicates do constitute things, and as constituting a thing's essential nature, must be finite in number. Therefore, besides bad transportation or bad banking, or old bicycles and old roads, adding one thing to another to paint a scene only makes another circle, broken or otherwise ... And another effective disaffective way to level people, or alienate the better sense of understanding, is to obliterate or deny their own fair appreciation of natural history too.

"Yet everything in the world is full of signs," skysigns too in the up above, as much as there is overall coordination and direction in things, or happenings that depend on each other, so it goes. And another way to look at the situation there is to understand that Manhattan lands in Salamanca, Spain, as it were, at least in principle if not the scenery, in around a four-and-a-half-hour trip, five times a day. Don Quixote, therefore, was out of his mind to be attacking windmills, when the diabolical Copernican windmill of the ages was everywhere around him, and right underfoot.

"Look out, valiente" Sancho cried at summer high noon, "this one would move like blazes, yet forever and never you and Rocinante will be unable to comprehend the maneuver. By its incomprehensible engines of gyromancy, you'll be twisted round and round in battle, and you'll fall to the left every time."

Later, sore-footed after dreadful combats against giants and demons, in difficult terrain with no center, they were transported inside the Magic Castle at Las Vegas. "You cannot win at this table either", Sancho advised, yet the Master insisted. "I am I and my circumstances. If not for them, then not for me," he said. "For in the same way we are said to be such and such because of these, even if the unexpected."

"Yeah, well, you should know what they say about goat's blood, diamonds, and laser beams" Sancho replied.

Quixote's expression was grave if airy. If he seemed a sad figure, touched by delusion, perhaps "Pink Floyd" besides Mars, he thought that maybe his brains had dried up. If it was from too much reading late into the night, then early into the morning, and not enough sleep anywhere between, his face still seemed possessed by some rare yet noble composure. If at times, it is true, he would stare into space like a hare, yet it was from some worthy recollection or lasting enchantment. In any case, somewhat toasted as a raisin burnt by the sun, as he was, with courteous demeanor and tranquil voice, "patience, and shuffle the cards," he told the dealer.

There was a harlequin fool too who appreciated his attentive courtesy at the game, who gladly reminded them that it has been observed that "four out of three people who visit the UN still have trouble with fractions, and cannot remember basic trigonometry."

"People always complain about their memories, never about their minds", answered Quixote, as he took a mineral water with ice -- but before all mankind Sancho Panza, nevertheless, would still have his own island government, one well provided, and insist on his dues, and the way to figure these things is not too complicated if committed to kind memory.

Since memory is the well of reason, and by nature all men reason alike, even if the devil is among the tailors, and no one can tell that the earth is moving by looking around or noticing anything in the first place, including a Foucault pendulum, it becomes a simple matter of knowing the parallel of a location -- to see what is going on. For instance, one should first take the cosine of latitude, then multiply that by the circumference of the Earth, then divide by the 24 hour day.

Cosine tables are easy to find and save time for this sort of endeavor. For example, lovely Quito, homespun home of El Nacional football La Maquina Gris, is at the Equator where cosine (0) = 1, where the circumference of the Earth is an estimated 24,902 miles, and close enough for rounding off. Therefore, for velocity of rotations, divide by the 24 hour day, ubi Agustinus non dubitat, and the spinning and spinning acceleration of the Earth in Quito will be 1038 mph.

They say multiply the good in life and divide the evil. Therefore, let each day be sufficient unto itself, yet if wisdom is not in the right time, it may not do any good; and that should be a lot of immediate torque de moto quoque to go unnoticed, through all the years; but so it goes, without even knocking over a taco stand, according to Judeo-Masonic controlled NASA and the UN.

Since Manhattan is at the 40th parallel North, that also runs through the middle of Spain, and the border between Kansas and Nebraska, then take the cosine of 40”, and multiply that into the circumference of the Earth, and follow with division by the 24 hour day. That way, one will find a velocity of 795 or 794.8303366666667 mph for the "Rockefeller-Rothschild" Compound of the UN, and the responsory of world communist conspiracy, and the entire route of the 40th parallel North. 795 mph divided by 1038 is roughly about 76%, which more or less matches the cosine of a 40 degree angle, etc.

Eia ergo! they used to say in Latin, and -- quantum mutatus ab illo! How much things can change in a New York minute, especially after Vatican II ... Vatican II ... and Vatican III. Ita ex, magnanimiter crucem sustinere, so carry the cross magnanimously.

Yet would somebody be putting on the innocent minded here? As fast and incomprehensible as the skulls and bones at Yale, 64 High Street, New Haven, Connecticut: too fast to think a way out of souped-up pine boxes, but to bury common sense alive, since that cannot be serious in any century or dark windowless room.

Nevertheless, "Latin does not keep the pot boiling", of course, at least not for millions of dollars and the wanging sounds like rock and roll. But the numbers would be in tune, right in tune, the chords and notes to fit in well with the songs they are playing, if they could tune an electric guitar like Saturn in Aries, et cetera.

If it were incomprehensible, or rather just a headache, at least for the sake of strangeness, a curious brochure, and the late night radio, some of the cosmic weirdness would be for real. At least it could seem that way at times. Therefore, let not science not pretend that there is not anything so hidden as the meaning against the aether, or the aether against the meaining, in any of the things they are saying. For all the paint and geometry, it only is to keep eveything moving. Smoking like whoville, and the drums of the moon on fire, they and their public only want to keep it rolling, "going mobile, beep beep!"

All the same in woods or city, to an air-conditioned gypsy, yet "the gods are just, and of our pleasant vices make instruments to plague us". If the check is still in the mail, if the Federal Reserve is the people's bank, when was the last time tourists went 795 mph for free, with hat and sunglasses, and not to notice? The ways of museyroom zoom zoom, and thusly, hang on to thy wallet or purse, and buckle up, if things and the runaround seem too casual. If the Big City money budget is already gone, what other things could be missing?

Mark Twain once said, "there isn't a parallel of latitude but thinks it would have been the equator if it had had its rights," and for more exact numbers to decimal places, when computing the heliocentric spins, all that is needed are minutes and seconds of arc. "Every great brand is like a great story," and in the case of Manhattan, for example, the complete latitude with minutes and seconds of arc is 40”47’24, which brings a more precise rotational velocity of 785.5637707372525 mph.

They say northern Long Island and the northern border of Colorado with Nebraska and Wyoming are about the 41st parallel north which would bring a speed around 783.0745175 mph in those cases. With the uniform curvature in arcs of latitude around the Earth, the numbers can seem to run on and on, almost like Pi, to pass magically through walls even ... but never find a home. Even a cathedral bum or scientist can see that with only small changes in distance North or South, one will soon begin to discover immediate changes in spin.

Some of the would-be well adjusted may still play chess in the park, however, and insist how about that ... ?! In chess notation "?!" means a dubious move and "??" is a blunder. "!?" means interesting. Impressive and fantastic, even for croquet in the rolling yard, when one realizes how much is going on right under one's feet "!?"

"Si toute le monde y passera, ne bougeons plus!" If all the world goes, we will not budge, yet look out for the Noteboom, "dxc4!" in chess. Where the board and any scribble scrabble notes do not fall over, everyone is an athlete now or wise as a pet cat of Apollo, and just for the coffee. He who does not panic or wreck things further -- files, rows, and pieces -- must have a lot of skill: and the situation becomes more challenging and trippy -- pede titubante -- when longitude is brought into consideration.

For example, St. Petersburg, Russia and Alexandria, Egypt are both very close to the 30th Meridian East, exactly. Situated right about on it, practically speaking, and they always are there, but Alexandria further to the South is going 368 mph faster all the time than St. Petersburg to the North. One could imagine that with enough time Alexandria would eventually break away, and St. Petersburg would have to fall behind, but even with all the years, and all the stars for so many loops, it never happens.

For all the pleasure of amnesia and deja vu, for those who think perhaps they may have forgotten all this before, these two cities have remained always on the exact same line of meridian. If not any blessings in disguise, the law of averages in loopty-loop and yo-yos has even seemed obvious between them, as they have kept the same angle of longitude in arc overall, though they are supposedly flying through space at speeds with 368 mph of difference: with Alexandria at 887.3553114207156 mph, from 31”13’N, compared with St. Petersburg at 519.749781017243 mph, from 59”56’20N. It must be a sign and wonder of nature in the environment that they always keep the same line between them.

According to heliocentrism, to save quiet appearances for a day, it all makes sense. Even though the latitudes are supposedly traveling many different velocities at once, somehow the longitudes and their neighborhoods never get mixed up. However, between so many lines of practical geography around the globe, this should be something impossible for a reasonable person to believe. The place would be utterly scrambled, in extremis ab centrum usque ad coelum, from the center to the heavens, if this were true. There would not even be room left in little places or big ones for the joy of Pi, as perambulations of 3.1459265358979323846 ... go, or the circular continuations of the seven days of the week, et cetera.

Yet between God and Aristotle, Machu Picchu and the Great Pyramid of Giza, there is no figure in geometry so simple and continuous as the circle. With certainty, and that of a continuous feature and function, Pi distributes itself evenly over all magnitudes in circles and spheres. For instance, as any circle of the Earth can turn only for one speed at a time, so can the entire sphere of it have only one speed per time, on any given day, of course.

Known like a secret that even kept still goes everywhere, Pi is a simple feature of circumference divided by diameter, a universal function in the course of whatever events. One, therefore, does not actually ever need to know the longitude to know velocity of latitude, since the supposed speed along a parallel is evenly distributed throughout. As the game rolls on, any part fits the whole and the other, according to the integration of Pi, so any locale of parallel is in an equal division to the circle from which it came as the others.

Like a universal emission, something this-somewhat, as any other prepositional thing would be in direction, such as circumference over diameter, even in the smoky roll of any dice, there it comes and goes from the center. For instance, a standard roulette wheel has 38 divisions of longitude” per latitude, where the Earth has 360, and both can spin only one velocity per time, as per littlest littlest time integrated in all the time. The turret, cone, ball pockets, and wheelhead of a roulette wheel all go with only one speed. As 1/38 equals .0263157, and 1/360 equals .0027777, all parts for the circle and of the sphere in unit function are necessarily equable in spatial volume and rate, equivalently as to the one larger one of which they are parts.

Since Pi distributes on the same basis, tout de même comunque, et cetera, through all circles and spheres, it is one simple universal curve, a poco a poco, through them all. From circumference to area of a circle, and surface area and volume of a sphere, Pi = c/d = a/r^2 = 4a/r^2 = (3/4)V/r^3.

Whereas the circle is a simple body, so a sphere, of course, as the continuous function in the feature that is Pi relates equally well to any integrated measure. As it remains the circular function par excellence, therefore, in the round one does not need to know longitude to figure speed of latitude, since all longitudes are as one according to the parallel, even as all latitudes are as one according to whatever corner of the sphere, that would have no label for place, situation, or direction, or up or down. Since it does not matter what longitude is to figure out speed of rotation for latitude, then, in the second case of all the purest corners unknown too, it does not matter what the latitude is either, in the end overall, because as Pi goes through a circle, so it also goes through a sphere -- and one speed will suffice for the whole pie and ball of wax, as much as the never ending story.

Sufficiency in a true sphere is so great and self-evident, where science would build on strength of common sense, that the up and the down and to the side are yet arbitrary distinctions. A form of Socratic justice rests in the quality of the measure, abiding by the division that penetrates all things, since the spherical property is sufficient for all points in space -- and it should be as clear to the common concern that the solid continents cannot be going more than one speed at a time. The Earth is an integral sphere, of course, and the land masses are wonderfully condensed together, well compacted with impressive Earthy compression. If the place were spinning at different speeds at once, because of "gravitation" from the sun, to account for the universal 24 hour day, the lands of field and stream would be rending themselves apart at the seams.

Whereas, if "contingency arises from motion, which, though caused necessarily in so far as uniform, it gives rise to difformity owing to parts."-5 Therefore, call no day happy by heliocentrism, "nulla dies felix," at least not more than any wrecking ball. Rather than fostering life on Earth, the Sun in the sky would be destroying it. It woud be cosmic disaster all over, the place an utter ruin on such a scale that there would be no space left for "kojo no tsuki", moonlight over a ruined castle, or cheap cherry wine and tears before bedtime for Chicken Little.

If the sky is falling, sunlight may seem percussive too, in the tree branches and leaves sort of splitting itself and visible things apart, that were in the dark, as it brings out distinctions in an illuminous way; but for a simple body with density at least like a beach ball, or the Earth, all points become as one in terms of Pi, and in terms of angular velocity per instant of time. For all the width of its expanison, the world is not so different from a roulette wheel, and represents a single game, as the bond in common nature makes all things one, as well as nature takes all things in common. As 1/38 of 1.00 is .0263157 and 1/360 is .0027777, so the uniform way of Pi maintains that 1/38 of it, (C/D), is .0826707 and 1/360 is .0087261, pro forma multitudinis hic et ubique terrarum.

If heliocentrism were correct, the world would be "all in pieces, all coherence gone, the sun lost and the earth, and all would be called in doubt, and no man's wit could well direct him where to look for a compass for their way". Worse than Clavileño blown to bits, it would even destroy the rational equalities of Pi, vis-a-vis the circle, and undermine the basics of simple awareness and cognitive psychology, vis-a-vis the sphere.

If the Earth spins at different and separable speeds along its latitudes, hell's bells at once, then it should be as simple to rend itself asunder in cataclysm; at once, but evidently every day everyone sees that it is not. It is not yet the end for the world, and it is easier to dynamite a railroad tunnel through a small mountain pass than to notice the Earth moving. And if the Earth were in motion in space, orbiting the sun, it would have to be with a uniform motion besides, conformable to the whole, otherwise it would be plowed up sand and tunes in the dust shredder.

If looking at a map could leave any doubts, with the 30th Meridian highlighted through the Gulf of Finland and the Black and Mediterranean Seas, maybe from some uncertainty due to something like volatility of the waters in between St. Petersburg and Alexandria, or for some other reason, then consider a set of 8 cities along 4 closely approximate Meridians, all on contiguous territory, with no boats and no water in between, to wit:

Acapulco, Mexico: 16”51’49N, 99”52’57W @992.965193260843 mph

Isachsen, Canada: 78”46’59N, 103”29’59W @201.8353239407114 mph

... as Aristotle the Bald the Prophet of the sycamore of doom and Dodona springs said, "what could not be could not be at all unless it were really so." And if any of these well connected locations traded places in natural terms, or went as fast as some other, like Quito (00”15’ S, 78”35’ W @ 1038 mph) or St. Petersburg (59”57’ N, 30”19’ E @ 519.749781017243 mph) there is no room for doubt that such exchanges would mess up their days and nights even more all the year.

Heliocentrism, false as it is, leaves the common brains of experience so confused and out of order that nobody would be fit to feed a cat if it were true. What a riven sphere of chaos it would be, ruinstrewn land and sea, if things were so, not to glimmer any remaining touch of peace, and only for the sake of biased motives in astronomy. O nesting madnesses and anthills of cosmic disangulation, to invade the mind with no saving host, thy name is pork barrelled and legion.

Nevertheless, the difference in the greater equanimity that comes again would be no more this than that. Nothing less than nothing more to demonstrate, not from any side more than the other, where the situation would be one among all, as if there were but one ecliptic and one Moon between them. Yet so the wise would much prefer to presume less than folly, and "goodbye, goodbye, hope to see you again soon", as one dying blind man said to the other, where all should be blind if there would be no peace, no restful charms, and no decent line of proportion left in the world. Since all would become utter and total disarray, every sign and whatever vision would be blasted undone.

St. Petersburg, Russia is so close to the 60th parallel and, therefore, cosine .5, that it would have a 12 hour day and night, if it went as fast as Quito. This means that during the summer solstice there, the sun would be visible for 9 hours and 26 minutes, not 18 hours and 52 minutes; and during the winter solstice, the sun would be visible for 2 hours and 56 minutes, not 5 hours and 52 minutes, or thereabouts.

So it goes, because of the spherical curvature of the Earth, and the universal 24 hour day, heliocentrism is forever falling out of sorts, contra naturam, making itself a manifest embarrassment and inferior entertainment ... to Famous Grouse whiskey and Ollie's last pub everywhere. Science, even going about as friendly as das ding an sich, the thing or the creature that it would be, which often is only the idea, would go about hoisting itself with its own petard, to subvert space as much as any loose bar room tables or bad furniture among the inebriated, to undermine common sense and wreck terraqueous time, and all for no good reason.

Blitzed to some such stupidity, if every place were estranged, refried, and spinning as fast as Quito, instead of the universal 24 hour day and night, there would be a very different terrestrial experience. Worldwide, for a few examples, Manhattan and Salamanca would have an 18 hour and 6 minute day. Paris would have a 15 hour and 44 minute day. Alexandria, Egypt would have a 20 hour and 33 or 34 minute day. As before, St. Petersburg, Russia, with the ice and the Neva, would have a 12 hour day and night, and Augusta, Georgia would be swerving and nerving along for a crispy green, 20 hour and 7 minute day, when Vancouver, British Columbia would have a 15 hour and 44 or 45 minute day … for its scenic way throughout the seasons.

As the day is for circles and a circle the day, it seems mankind and the mortal sphere must suffer for trucks and overtime repair. "Divum!" they used to say, when the Romans built so many old bumpy roads.

If Quito, on the other hand, were going as slow as Manhattan and Salamanca, it would be for 31 hours and 45 or 46 minutes per diem. If it were rotating the chestnut trees as slow as Paris, it would be for 35 hours and 52 or 53 minutes. As slow as the dust in Alexandria, Egypt, it would be 28 hours per day. If it were skating along like St. Petersburg, Russia, it would be on the glide at 46 hours and 37 or 38 minutes per day. If it played for velocity in the breeze and for lost golf balls like Augusta, Georgia, it would be in the calendar for 365 days a year, pro rata, to the tune of 28 hours and 45 minutes each one. If it was day tripping on excursion, for the place in space, and moving to the radio tunes like Vancouver, British, Columbia, it would be enjoying an expansive day of 37 hours and 46 or 47minutes all year … throughout the wonder of the seasons.

For the simple schedule of time and space, heliocentrism falls out of any decade, with extreme velocities and crazy clocks, enough to make it lose all its teeth. Shattered everywhere on the wrong side of Occam’s razor, that plurality should not be posited without necessity, and certainly that confusion should not be increased, “pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate,” it turns the smallest world and naval observations we have upside down.

The only one is also the smallest, of course, it cannot be any other way in the cosmos; and in such a case, putting time before space, for the sake of the universal 24 hour day, which must be done since everyone knows that the day is 24 hours, heliocentrism tries to separate elements that on Earth and in nature cannot be separated. Since time necessitates space, as much as space necessitates time, they become as inseperable as the circle. Like the only two sides of the straight line or edge in Occam’s razor, there cannot be one without the other.

For a technical talk shop sentence, to further address the practical concern "de Newtonio", to wit, therefore, "de motu in principio", au milieu d'une phrase cientifico, say, one may say, almost to the secret society: most secret, that the multitude of natural orders between them, time and space, that arise in the interstitial continuum, beginning even from Cambridge-on-Cam, and Libor of the Bank of England, or Greenwich Mean Time, do verily comprise all the options, operations, and operative events, so many and multivarious, that are at play in patterns of work and energy, however they may be, and for market options, puts, and shapes, in vis situ potens, as computational by whatever degrees derivative (accidental, coincidental, or efficient means considered, of course) so that by computing the figure, it is veridical that time and space are simply and of formal necessity mutual in terms of the natural world. Vis-à-vis, sc., they weave the terrestrial matrix by perpetual compromise and concurrence of claim, whether in savoir faire of Bourbon crown or geometric algebra and park benches -- circa ceteris paribus. And, therefore, the simple circular continuations of the days, weeks, and phases of the Moon, pass the lot around, even as something in common and by convention for all with eyeballs to see.

By the dog of Egypt then, technicalities of the desert and another circle in everything, everything for circles again, and there is time, that would please some but tries all, because everything in creation cannot take place at the same time. Of course, not the same moment, not like that as such, and everything cannot occur instantaneously. As much as everything or everything else, than those or that one, is not infinite, natural motion cannot take place in an instant but rather only as so forth, even if to allow for digression, wherefore "neither will an infinite multitude exist".

Rather than coming from an anterior point of truth, like the square root of two, the position of heliocentrism seems to follow a mistake in infinite regression that leads all over the place. Natural motion is gradual, of course, and thankfully there is sufficient space because everything gradual cannot happen at once or in the same place. All things that could happen can happen only within enough range of spatial distribution, since whatever the occurrence, there must at least be the sufficiency.

Things need to have space first, and if someone would say that all things that happen happen in the same place, in terms of being qua being, then each thing also would have to be everywhere. A marvellous dream, everywhere as a place, the potency of such as a this something somewhat could be difficult to fathom, even if characteristics may be universal. Of course, as much as total indifference to many places could be represented in any state or action, it is not easy to be everywhere, which is too much for so many small things. As Keith Richards said, "you need some space and some time. Space and time is everything", even if less is more, since everything is somewhere in some sort of place or position ...

Far out, afar a bird, keefistic sandpipers and gulls, like Empedocles and the winds of meteorology, as a sphere gives perfect balance to all sides, and there are only three kinds of motion among all the elements: from the center, to the center, and around the center. Any sphere has the same relation to the infinite as to the center or circumference, et from fancy Deauville, qui sait faire des ricochets le meilleur? The Rolling Stones were never popular in France, as if some would imagine that using the formula for angular velocity in a tricky way, somehow, would save heliocentrism, to change things, because there as radius increases velocity increases. V = wr, yet it does not save it, because radius represents the complete extent and includes all intermediate points of the domain.

In the Psalter of St. Jerome, one of the petitions is for a "spatium bene vivendi", "a space well lived", or "a space of good living", which represents also a generous disposition of time. Without the space, there would not be the fire, not even the image in the mind, and without the fire there would not be the time, and without those there would not be the breath or the spirit, as much as there would not be any means to begin. Within its own space and time, therefore, the Psalter of St. Jerome says, "ut hi versiculi proficiant mihi ad vitam aeternam, et ad remissionem omnium peccatorum, et ad spatium bene vivendi ...", "that these verses may profit me to eternal life, remission of all sins, and to a space well lived", exempli gratia.

“The rose has lived the life of a rose—
A morning’s space.”

ultima ratio mundi, the roses as roses

There must be a principle of energy too, some somatic epitome, some signature like time with some value of means as location, since neither is anything produced from non-entities, if non-entitites were taken as things, as if such things were fit for all minds and the world. As much as whatever presence or particle or wave that may be in occurrence, there is no time or space without some quality, ens inquantum ens, because nothing that exists exists without some formal qualification of being. In the way that it is in an ultimate way of substance, there is no quality of being without energy, as there can be no energy without quality of being. At least a little tension or charism of something of a pattern is there to carry a circle as much as anything becomes necessary. Even if only for a machine or quantity of dead wood, this much should be clear, for instance, that light is also energy, that illuminates time and characterizes space, as much as light would add to things by illustrative illumination.

To simplify with a little notepad, therefore, the heliocentric confusion of Uraboros lost in the cosmos, the old dragon swallowing his tail, rather than denying that he is there, hiding in the aether, it may be simple enough to remember a little algebra class and the universal formula d = r x t.

Distance and space, distance as space, and time for time, where rate is energy, and the way things are is simple enough even between megalodon and the beach. The elementary formula of distance, space, and time provides a universal sign for how all measurable things work. As much as time, space, and energy are the big three in common or the tension in between, pro rata originum, they form a natural trinity wherever they go, where any one will explain the other two. Ce n’est pas la mer à boire, or it's not that difficult, one does not have to drink the sea, they say at the beach in France, to study triangles.

The vasty ocean is wide as heaven is high and a thing is reckoned to be possbile because that is already in energy or reserve which is said to be possible. And any other thing, whether similar or dissimilar, as being in some sort of tension too, is said to be possible because it may be in some form of energy. Whatever exists by nature or necessity is of or in energy. From the stars and moon to the earth, there is measure in existence and proportion in all things. Ex astris lunaque ad terram est modo in toto rebus-- yet for the sake of appearances, and the universal 24 hour day, which are undeniable, heliocentrism puts time separated illogically before space, and makes confusion out of all other normal weights and measures.

Anyhow perhaps a sliver of hope remains in the triumph of further trifles. So much over nonsense, for example, if the ocean were whiskey and Tex Ritter had been a duck, he would have swum to the bottom and never come up. If not in such a way, there is more and more for everybody to see, and the sway of common sense may yet prevail, since the conclusive proofs provided by Foucault’s pendulum, for one, show that the Earth is not moving anyway. Esse quam videri and the same thing between everybody's shoes.

If there could be any doubts, all any reasonable person would need to do, to be certain, is place an interferometer underneath the bob, in the center where it swings back and forth. Since Michelson-Morley conducted the first successful interferometry experiments in 1887, they all have shown conclusively that heliocentrism is not possible in the resolution.

Besides the negative results of all interferometer and aether drift tests for heliocentrism, the Earth is still one simple body, one for one, and where else could it go and what else could it be some may ask? Yet incidentals and accidentals like the seven seas, and varying terrains, from the Grand Canyon to Mt. McKinley and the Himalayas, do not change the substantial priority that the Earth is one -- the only one that it is. Therefore, as a truly simple body in space, It has a simple quality of identification in itself and about itself that Scotus called “haecceitas”, which means “thisness”, as in “this that is unique.”-6 A distinction of authenticity, haecceitas is a common property of all simple bodies and simple motions in space, and the Earth has it in many factors, hic et ubique terrarum.

As Al-Ghazali said, "every globe is one", and all over its unique place, unified in some accordance with reality, tellecor is one true media with haecceitas, and can only go one speed at a time, with a uniform motion conformable to the whole. Otherwise the land would be coming apart in destabilized zones, too much even for the blue helmets and money of the UN, "and if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand."

Et si regnum in se dividatur, non potest stare regnum illud. Et si domus super semet ipsam dispertiatur, non poterit domus illa stare.-7

Yet the sky has descended to earth, as gracious as two compatibilities everywhere at the same time, with at least an end and a beginning wherever in all its divisions. As quantities have no contraries, nor is there anything like it, the Heavens and the Earth, which is qualified in contrary ways at one and the same time.

Like any other two things, also in the circumstantial and universal, like Heaven and Earth in identity and difference from place to place again, for the understanding and memory to discover a center, for such a condition with typical and summary resolution as the human intellect, so it goes. Cela va sans dire, if to save the surface and save all, summo genere locis, an Earth completely at rest in as many regions, territories, counties, fields, rock climbs, and pastures as there could be can still account easily for the 24 hour day, and all the little details, terminus ad quem. Whatever the distance around, each circle of latitude is in line for the same day, particularly along each longitude; and whatever magnitude of things that come to the surface in cross-section of four ninety degree angles is in the same aspects as in a universal. Fragments of a day and whatever infima species of a universal are in relation to the same property, and the calendar day is one the same in many places at once, of course, yet continuous with itself and the comos; in this way each place may be one at rest, quies media quies magna, and for the same rest in all at the same time. As even the smallest truths are in agreement with others, and with the greater truth of all, "life can be really simple, but we insist on making it complicated".

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to some opinion perhaps it is best described as something not imposed but something immanent.-8 As much as that may be, there should also be something true about it, since they do not say that beauty is a lie. Even if the truth may be difficult to accept, if not something imposed but something immanent too, the truth is not a form of immanence that needs to move for it to be true, for "truth is one, and in it there is no place for progress".

If in some instances the truth appears concealed in transformations (transmutabili), one may have to go beyond the transformations to get to the truth; however, the true beginning, veritas veritatum primordalium, does not need objects to be set in motion, as an example, since it already was so. It already was so that things would be that way, if the necessity was that any of it would be true, since things in motion give occasional evidence of what is true, but they do not make the truth formally true. To be what it is, as formal substratum, since it does not change, something as substantial and preexistent between so many things as the truth does not need occasional objects except for illustration.

Without the necessities of so many problems, even though so many do exist, the nuisance in the truth is in a tendency to simplify, with logic, as much as nature would assimilate the truth in particles or waves, visible or invisbile. It goes without saying, in gnomology, that logic is also the logic predicated of simple facts and evidence.

Nothing can tie science together better than the truth, a knot or node in the γνῶσις, as Scotus would say, to add that there is infinite awareness on one side of logic and finite awareness on the other. The finite awareness makes discoveries of the finite, through finite experience, having such a nature, yet may infer the infinite with enough light by assimilation of impressions that runneth over. Of course, parallel logic is still logic, as logical as logic would be on any side of things even if finite, as is the infinite, even though finitude is always less.

Since logic is common to them both, one side and the other, the division between them is something else, and something more than mere quantity, even if there is not an easy word for it. Something ineffable yet with a quality logical and clear divides them. As much as the infinite cannot be quantified, or the difference between the infinite and the finite numbered, or even the finite in its total domain all numbered up exactly, when so many times it runs beyond practical accountability, the division is something else. Therefore, per se, it rises even above exponential code and the coolness of mathematicians, since it also is true that mere quantity cannot give rise to consciousness or self-awareness.

Since it is as real and simple as a sphere, or any dot dot dot in constant accord with actual facts, the earth in its physical domain is even like the truth itself, and of an order that does not need to move or be moved to be true. Whether what is true about it in experience is taken in some metaphysical or physical sense of magnitude, spheres form a category of simple bodies, with unique geometrical properties as a class that no other figures have.

For example, for any given volume, the sphere is the shape that has the smallest and most efficient surface area, and the way one sphere relates to another is a continuous function. This is why it appears in nature so much, from bubbles and water drops, to stars and planets. The motion of a sphere is simple, and any motion of a simple body is conformable as a whole to the point of origin.

A cue ball or baseball can only go one speed at a time, of course, and be in one place at a time. A painful example from the world of sports, for instance, if Ron Cey, "the penguin" from Los Angeles Dodgers professional baseball, was ever famous for having been accidentally struck in the head by a curve ball, unfortunately, that was where it would have had to have been at that time, betwixt and between from another bad pitch.

No matter how twisted the course, the essential uniformity of motion in a solid sphere, that is not coming apart, is a natural law of physics as much as unified bodies hold together. For it is one conbobulation, one spherical wheel, that moves from point to point, one point at a time, and the craziest knuckleball or strangest golf shot cannot defy the simplicities of nature. The motion must start in one place and end in another, having essential conformitas de moto quoque sive ab utroque. That is from the "causae per se", the efficient causalities, the whole way, going only one overall speed at an instant of time, and being in one place at a time.

A ping pong ball as well as the most expensive yo-yo from China always spins one speed at a time. The uniform speed of the spin may increase or decrease; but it always goes one simple velocity per the littlest points of unit time; and it is that simple that the Earth cannot spin at two or more different speeds, nor be in two or more different places at once.

With a little motorized pin in a baseball, the whole thing will rotate with the singular speed applied per time by the pin’s engine, conformably even as the speeds are increased or decreased. There could be settings from fast, medium, to slow, and whatever the setting is, from fastest to slowest, that is how fast the ball spins, certainly.

If acentric cosmologists raced around the central bank database room with office chairs with spherical wheels, and all the Federal Reserve Bank money in tow in computer spreadsheets and trashy folders of papers, and crashed into walls, blind as bats, and went out the windows and off the cliffs like Monty Python, it would be the same. Like the compass of a code, every curve in 3-D proceeds one integral point at a time. Every point along its line is one solution function to the equation, otherwise things lose their form and come apart.

If some cogitators are not yet resolved, and woud like to analyze further, perhaps enjoying this sort of pain, perhaps "this grief passing all griefs beside"-9, the flickering delusion of petty arbitrations like this, because having had experience of things like merry-go-rounds and Ferris wheels, they say that when a big spinning wheel is going around, it feels different on the outside from the inside, because the outside is going faster, yet motion is a quality, and as a quality a simple derivative of the origin of its source. And it should be known as well that particular leverage and radial velocity from the center of a wheel are not exactly the same in all cases.

As much as inside or out, for fundamentals and change, the specifics still count, where four of the basic qualities identified by the ancient Greeks were hot or cold and wet or dry. "From the very earliest times, mankind divided all physical matter into the four elements: fire, earth, air, and water ".-10 The correspondence of the four most basic polar qualities in nature, as in hot-fire, dry-earth, wet-water, and cold-air, all involved terms necessarily predicable of change and motion, as well as subsistent stability, as Dante would say, for example, that "heat cannot be separated from fire, or beauty from The Eternal".

Like elementals in binary codes, as they say cold air or dry earth, the qualities would characterize the way things are and the ways that they subsist. In themselves or in the interactions, something becomes irreducible to a point, where a quality is distinct from all the others. As a key in substance or substratum that makes something possible not only in nature but also in knowledge, awareness of them represents and accounts for reality; and there are at least four more, like bitter or sweet, and rest or motion, that exist in nature as signs and essential characteristics, or attributes, in correspondence of most basic properties, et cetera.

Like salt and oil, according to Empedocles, and the tensions of harmony and strife, even if they add up to complex positions, the qualities and elements remain simple in themselves and dipolar across a range. Awareness and nature are in kind and no cause can produce an effect unlike itself. The likeness and quality in cause and effect is not merely from appearance but from the operation, the operation being the thing essential. By the terms of their own properties of self-adherence, "as the forms of things as they are in themselves", they are simply being what they are across the natural continuum -- "since any given predicate must be either affirmed or denied of any subject, essential attributes must inhere in their subjects of necessity", even as all commensurate universals inhere necessarily in their subjects too, et cetera.

"It makes more sense, therefore, to think that many things have common elements, as words share letters, rather than assume that anything can exist without them".-11 And besides the fact that it is true, if it seems trivial to say that motion is of an elemental quality, like hot or cold and wet or dry, it is because heliocentrism and relativity would have everybody fooled out of their minds, with everything in motion and nothing at rest. As Leibniz said, in keeping with the false rubric of ubiquitous motion, "there is not any one body that is perfectly and entirely at rest, but we frame [only] an abstract notion of rest by considering the thing mathematically."-12

However, the difference of being moved makes something different in quality from what was or is or will be at rest. The world of coming-to-be and passing-away, and so many innovated events to witness, show that there is rest, and that motions start and end. The reason then for saying something so plain, that motion is of a simple and authentic quality, with separate difference as a principle in contrast to rest, is that after so many years in the land of the lost, in the abyss of heliocentrism and relativity, authenticity itself has little or no value across the board. Authenticity has been wasted and drugged with weird science, buried under a flood of uncertainties and deception, as if the whole world were an illusion. Yet there is still a fundamental difference between an object in motion and one at rest, and the two distinctions account for a wide range of oppositions.

Since modern philosophy makes itself obscure, incomprehensible, or dizzy, in its search after the nature of things, from constantly going round and round, they imagine that the Earth is also going round and round, and capable of moving in many directions at once too. It does not really make sense, however, and the theory is merely of an emotional appearance, which arises out of their own internal condition. By mere mental projection of that which they wish, they suppose it to be the reality of nature. Therefore, "they think that there is nothing stable or permanent, but only flux and motion, and that the world is always full of every sort of motion and change".-13

Contrary to heliocentrism, relativity, and the finger of Cratylus, however, everything in the universe is not in motion, or even so-called relative motion. Motion, in fact, is in contrast to rest, as much as hot to cold and wet to dry. "Speaking generally, rest is the contrary of motion", and such a state is existentially substantial.-14

Something as real as the day, or even healing and a cure, whatever the weather is like, whatever time of year, it already is plainly evident to everyone that the Earth is at rest. Without having to think about it too much, "all lovers of learning are agreed that speeches and words are suprefluous when the facts are evident to all,"(15) and that "that which acts as producing movement or rest is a principle and a substance".-16

As much as motion is a unique qualification, overall distinct from rest, Aristotle defined motion as the passing from potency to art in some subject that is acted upon by an agency. For motion to occur, for the elements involved, the subject acted upon must have the proper disposition with respect to the potency targeted for actualization, where the proper disposition would also stem from a given quality or qualities, et cetera.

A specific quality of chemisiry in an element at times may increase the energy value or activity more than some other generic quantity, which does not share the exact same attributes to the same degree. From the power of the quality involved, sometimes less may be more, and a lesser amount from one potion or chemical mechanism may represent more force and activity than a greater amount of something else. Quality, in any case, as much as geometry, is inescapable ab origine; and, therefore, constitutes an important part of physics and natural theories of motion, of course.

Perhaps some would prefer to draw intellectual distinctions between immanent and local motion; but, however such discussions could be, however the truth could fall out, in the end, the quality is the quality is the quality. As much as a rose is a rose and not an onion, science may see motion for what it is or not. Whether immanent in a species or local in space and time, in fact, motion or action must occur also within some part or aspect of a plenum, συν πλήρωμα, and there will be always some quality of some kind involved. "And wisdom is justified by all her children", yet Einstein's relativist instruction that everything is in motion, and nothing at rest, would also mean that everything changes, and nothing at all remains the same. No kind or category would remain simply as it is, ens inquatum ens, and any simplicity abiding in the natural order would have to give way to ultimate confusion and chaos; for "if all things are in motion, nothing will be true; everything therefore will be false. But it has been shown that this is impossible."-17

Therefore, even if all natural motion represents change of some kind, and all change involves some sort of motion, yet many things in nature do remain the same, and some sort of immanence must prevail, since there is a quality of sameness as species endure. Simple facts are often the strongest, and the more things change, the more they stay the same: "for truth is one, and in it there is no place for progress".

"Plus ca change plus c’est le meme chose". After all, is there not a fine blade of grass or happy mushroom by the way that is greater than the vanities and corruptions of all the nations?

Truffle hunters know nature's rare delight, yet no progress can remain without an irreplaceable truth, and the substantial record of concurrence from all aether drift tests and light-beam interferometry experiments, from Michelson-Morely in 1887, down to today, has shown that motion is an authentic quality in contrast to rest, and that the earth is not moving. Galaev's aether drift and radiowave experiments of 1998-99, and his optical tests of 2002, also substantiated that motion is a simple quality, and that absolute motion does exist -- "absolute" here not in a Newtonian sense of infinite, of course, but "absolute" in the sense of authentic and simply real. As Reginald Cahill summed up the findings: "these very different experiments show ... 'absolute' [authentic] motion is one of the most startling but suppressed discoveries of the twentieth century."-18

Actual knowledge is identical with the object as all things come into being from what acutally is, and with every day that passes, for those who apply themselves, one may lose some foolishness and gain some sense. It is the same easy way to reckon with motion as ontology, as things in motion have at least four fundamental attributes of any quality or measure, in

1. magnitude
2. concentration
3. refinement (efficiency)
4. kind of origin

Everything that exists (whether considered formally or materially) is in some quality and number. Things follow from fundamental characteristics, elements that run like ABC’s from one extreme to the other, and the spinning wheel of a merry-go-round turns only one speed per time. Even if it tilts or wobbles, it all tilts or wobbles tilting wobblings together, and it cannot clock two or more different speeds at once.

It is the same principle in all times and places, that a wheel or sphere that is sound will have only one volume of velocity per instant. All various radial extensions from the center will go about conformably with the integral motion of the axis at the center, otherwise there would be hidden in it the beginning of some separating division, some "difformity owing to parts". If not for an undermining contingency, complexionis scala adversa, a wheel has one uniform velocity, turning from one axis of origin, as much as simple things like merry-go-rounds and the earth.

If to an accidental tourist on a Ferris wheel the overall force of motion feels greater on the outside, that does not mean that the spinning is going around different speeds from the middle to the edge. Like the beam of a catapult, the radius of a circle whether in a wheel or a sphere represents the domain. When Edward I built Warwolf, the largest trebuchet in Britain at the time, it was with a menacingly long beam because the greater length meant the English army could use the siege engine with more advantage, launching bigger and heavier rocks against the Scots in their castles. And however long the beam, when it launched the heavy stones and quarried rocks, it launched them with one uniform motion from end to end.

So it goes from the axis of rotation and the history of the world -- y ddraig goch ddyry cychwyn. If there was fellow A, situated at the edge of a large Ferris wheel, and another fellow B, at the center, the leverage of momentum gathered by A on the outside would be more mechanically advantageous to launching him further, if it were necessary, than B, because the mechanical advantage of leverage created for launching in the case of A is increased by the greater length of radius. While the circular velocity between them, divided from the center as they go around, is the same for the unit domain, in so many revolutions per measure of space and time, yet the greater leverage of momentum for launching far away into the distance may be gathered in position A, on the outside.

In any event, if the outside is a better position to let fly, a pitcher naturally throws at the last from the hand and fingers not the elbow or shoulder, if science should say so too for common sense. From there, it is more mechanically advantageous and better for launching than from the center. Heavy weights and knuckleheads will fly farther, if they are launched from further out on a big wheel or catapult, but the big wheel turns one speed per instance of time from the center, just like the arm of a catapult.

A moving vehicle and a moving wheel can only go one speed at a time for one place at a time. A simple body cannot clock two or more different speeds at once, no matter how the heliocentric scientism would escape reality; and it does not make any difference between a sphere or standard wheel. In terms of simple velocity, the difference between a sphere and a wheel is another distinction without a difference. A car or motorcycle that ran on perfectly spherical tires instead of the normal ones, whenever they would get a ticket for speeding, would all be the same business. "All things will be distinct and clear to the man who does not hurry", as "haste is blind and improvident", now the time to pay that ticket they say at the courthouse.

Whatever rpms, the rate of measure and pi radians would have an essentially uniform and conformable number for the whole, as another simple body in motion. Ab urbe condita, 753 or 773 BC, AUC and AUC, area under the curve, and so it goes with a wagon wheel down a hill, or a spherical one as well. Rolling the axial source of motion in extension through all the parts, as any one radius goes one speed, so all the other radii and segments within any circles of the sphere will go the same speed. From surface to center, like the teeth of a comb, the comb all goes the same way.

The exactamundo rotary motion of helicopter blades, or a lawn mower, or the beaters of an electric hand-held mixer are integrated the same way. Going one-for-one with the speed applied, they can go slow, medium, or fast, but they all go uniformly with one speed at a time.

If some would continue to imagine that somehow the Earth could be in flight multiple speeds at once, because an administrator from NASA sent them a Christmas card, or an envelope with money, and to satisfy the bizarre demands of heliocentrism, and because it is a sphere that things could be so strange, remember that motion is a simple quality and traceable to its source.

For example, if two separate runners on a large circular track are positioned with one on the far outside circuit, and one on the nearest inside circuit, the one on the outside will have to run faster to keep up for a go-around, because he would be covering a greater distance each lap, and they would also have separate origins of motion. If they were only connected by a string, to keep the string level in line between them, as they would go around the track, the one on the inside route will not have to run as fast, and they would have separate origins of motion. Two separate runners, connected only by a string, would not be composed as a simple body and would not have a conformable origin of motion.

If the two runners ran in place at the same individual rates it took for them to stay in line, when they were in forward motion around the track, from the outside and inside circuits, then the fellow on the outside would be running faster in his place.

For all the tempo and evermore, however, if they were set in chairs on a long mechanized telephone pole, horizontal to the ground, that also would be of one common origin of motion, from an axis of rotation at the center, then with one runner chaired at the end that is the edge, and the other the center, as the telephone pole rotated around, fast, medium, or slow, they would then be going the same circular velocity around (v = wr), with one uniform origin of motion as in a simple body.

If the runners were replaced by self-animated golf balls, that could roll around the track on their own, as if they had minds and eyes alive to the scene, the one on the outside would need to roll faster than the one on the inside, to keep up, when they were separated and had separate origins of motion around the track. But if they were superglued to tees placed as pegs in the horizontal telephone poll, they would not even need to roll anymore to make the trip around. Like egg beaters of a unit, they would be going the same circular velocity around, from the common origin of motion in the telephone pole.

Since motion is simple as a quality, as much as crickets and bait, all velocities can be generalized in three great sets as slow, medium, or fast; and a simple body like the Earth or the moon cannot go two or more different velocities at once, or be in two or more different locations at the same time. A stereo turntable, a ball, or a solid sphere with density and uniform curvature like the Earth is one-for-one in spin. If any wisdom obtains in a simple view by trigonometry, science should take a look at a little 45 record going around. The whole turntable and the little 45 all go around and around at the same speed, and like that for the whole song! Amazing and scientific, and it is the same way for a 33. The record is one-for-one in spin and whatever music of the sounds. If one plays a 33 or a 45 at the wrong setting, it will sound too fast and high for the 33, or too low and slow for the 45, as long as the song plays, whenever these two speeds are confused.

Whether by nature or art, things have a way of falling into form, as the outside of the record where the song starts goes around the middle or the center where the song ends. Occurence and occasion resolve to a center as well as salt to flavor, or vinegar or olive oil to a name; and even with the oceans' majority surface, the land masses are substantial enough that it is the same plain way with the Earth. People as well as science know North, South, East, and West by heart, and the line where earth and sky meet, which cannot be spinning many different speeds along the latitudes at once; but this sort of confusion, that the Earth should be flying around through space, around the Sun, at many different speeds at once along its latitudes, to account for the universal 24 hour day, is what heliocentrism would have one believe.

However, between .000000000000001 and whatever numbers smaller or larger, there can only be one volume of motion in an instant that would affect and characterize the entire Earth at a given time. There can only be one straight line between any two points to form the radius of whatever unit circle. If the movement of that simple line is a simple rotation around either end in a plane, coinciding with any points in space, the whole line rotates with one speed from the origin. Whether it rotates or not at all, it does so with only one unit volume rate per time.

Therefore, the cosmology of Earth is simple and continuous with a center, that exists with necessary mathematical density. Like any integrated circular function, as a quality to be found anywhere, whatever the domain, there is only one range: and the domain of the earth is characterized by transfixed immobility, as its full range would go by numbers and numbers into the surrounding space and outer space.

"By means of that song without music", as they say, "that word without voice, we are fused with the melody of the world", even the goose among swans, the squirrel among chickens, as too much pepper or not enough, like too much of anything else, and the minute, hour, and second hands of any clock show the same obvious principle: that the motion of a sphere is simple and uniform. Where the hands do not fall into chaos, they represent three different spheres of time in one larger one of the cosmos.

People have an innate ability to recognize the truth when they hear it, as first principles "are not the privilege of the few but the many, inasmuch as first principles are common and known to all".-19 There is, in fact, a predisposition in the understanding for the primary notions and principles of knowledge, which may come to light in any surprise. Even as actualized by experience of particulars, the common elements of reckoning are "so clear and evident that the human mind, when it attentively considers them, cannot doubt of their truth."

First principles, however, like anything else, can be abused -- for the position as well as the thing. As Bruno said in defense of mixed up stories, "se non è vero, è molto ben trovato”. Even if not true, a good story, but if there is any deliberative relish in some well found nonsense, in such cases what sort is the fiction?

"A common conception of the mind is that which is conclusive for anyone who hears it,"(20) and it should be clear that the spherical curvature of the Earth, in the light of its own perfect sum, with the prevalence of the 24 hour day, and the conformable motion of record players and baseballs, etc., prove that the Earth is not moving, and that the Sun orbits the Earth. Besides whatever else, in topics and sorts, one may reckon often enough how difficult it would be for all things to be different from how they are, all at once then forever; yet "if it is easy to refute an argument, facts cannot be denied". And there are so many of them in this regard, even in the strictly material and quantitative sense, that it is no longer possible to preserve any doubt as to the nonsense of heliocentrism. As Ghazali said, "he whose intellect does not perceive the impossibility of this may well despair of his intellect."
